Hi there i have a 1999 1.8t quattro. The engine has had some work done on it. When stationary the car smells as if it is running very rich and when sat for a few minutes it smokes quite alot. Have been told that diagnostic will not work as there is no engine mangment light on. Thinking it may cost a few quid? Does anyone have an ideas?

Diagnostics may not show any faults but logging may show something up on vcds...
you can still have faults showing without the EML on....
