Engine Misfire - Can't access spark plugs

My engine is slightly misfiring however I can only access two spark plugs because the inlet manifold is in front of the other two spark plugs. Is there a tutorial of how to access them?

Must mean the N249 assembly - that's the only logical thing I can come up with...

In which case, try Waks Wide Web
'01 AMK, completely standard except for the Ambient Lighting Pack.

    Previous posts suggest it's a 1997 1.6 A3.

I know on my AVU engine 1.6 it's seriously tricky to change the middle two without taking the inlet manifold off. It IS possible though, I had to use a socket with two different extensions and a spark plug socket on the end and bend it and slowly work them out. Tricky, but it is doable.

It could also be coilpacks or HT leads that cause a misfire.

    Ahhhh, I see...

For those who haven't ever seen one (like me) this would be the item in question then - ignore red circle.

I changed mine about 1 year ago. I am a complete spanner, and it took me about 4 hours. The entire top bit (more evidence of my incompetence) had to come off, resulting in pistons showing etc. Behind the silver manifold in the centre of the picture are the delicate injector bar - this is all wires and sensors so be careful. As far as I can tell, the one on the passenger side is the only accessible one on the car. I literally took the whole top off to get to them!

I changed due to a massive misfire but It didn't solve the problem, so I then changed the coil pack - still no luck. Then I discovered it was the HT lead. Moral of the story - when you do it -- do the lot if you can afford it.

Sorry I can't be more help.

I originally changed mine to stop a misfire, then the coilpack and it turned out to be a HT lead aswell.
