AAARGH!!!! 2001 S3 temp issues and more!!!

Any thoughts on the following symptoms for a 2001 S3

• Car struggles up to get to and does not maintain a normal running temperature
• ECU light on
• Below average MPG 24ish – careful driving – used to get more
• The air con does not know what temperate it is, I.E whatever temp I set it at it blows about the same and the air does not get hot.

Any suggestions as to what will be causing these issues and which I should tackle first?

Having been through a similar experience, point 1 will be down to the thermostat, resulting in point 4, and 2 and 3 could be the CTS incorrectly reading the coolant temperature and therefore running slightly rich. Thermostat is about £24 from Audi, the CTS around £8-£9 from any parts retailer.

Note - I had a "genuine" Audi thermostat fitted by a dealer, didn't resolve the problem. Collected and fitted a "genuine" Audi thermostat myself today, problem resolved. I did the CTS too, purely because I had my tools out and it's only a 5 minute job.

As said, change the thermostat first then see how things go

yep id agree with stat if you have vagcom you can check the temp while running in that then id go for CTS which is a breeze to change
