    Weight loss for free!!

Took both my front inner arch liners off today, only a 5min job with the front wheels off, and found an absolute stack of sand, mud and leaves all built up between the liner and the underside of the wing next to the a pillar. Prob removed about 1kg in total!

Just a heads up prob worth doing so the mud doesnt retain water and cause any premature rotting.

Mine's probably really bad, as my arch liners have HUUUUUUUUGE holes in from the tyres rubbing!

Wow! it hardly makes it worth having the liners in! Could be worth removing and waxoiling everything instead..

problem is, on standard cars there are things like the SMIC's that need protecting from stones and such like!

Also aerodynamics, the liner deflects air from entering the inner wing and causing drag. Also without a liner there is clear passage from the back of the inner wing into the area under the a-pillar and the door hinges and such like, so that instead would catch all the crap flung up their.

I have the same car as you and I took out my drivers side fog last week to replace a bulb and there was an almost equal amount of mud and leaves behind it, which looked like it was clogging some kind of cooler, maybe the oil or intercooler. Definately worth doing as it only took a few minutes and must of done some good.

I keep meaning to take my wheels off and strip my liners out and clean all in side.
If the weather would dry up for a day or two i'll be able to do it.

    Thanks for the reminder.

Haha I have two or three in one of my head lights, just a shame the bumper needs to come off to get it out.

Is there a guide on here how to remove the front bumper?

On the same note, nearly! I have removed the back seats, spare wheel and tools, and the car feels a lot more responsive, plus I see better MPG. I would say if you are like me and only use the back seats about 2% of the time then it's extra weight you are carrying for no reasons.
