Looking for S3 number 3 !

Ok I should explain, I first bought a 99 S3 in 2006... Loved it, then fell in love with Motorbikes.... so i sold it a year on and bought one... I was well happy... Untill it started rainng... in 2008 i decided that i wanted another, a 2001 this time, Again i loved it ! but........another bike came along.... So I was back to square one only with two bikes and no car...

I am currently on month 3 of 6 of my tour of afghanistan and the lovely Tory's are going to give me a bit more money this time

I think i will spend about 7-8k on either a nice 03 plate or a modded 01 again.

Any suggestions or guys on here wanting to sell in 3 months ?

I may be looking at selling mine that sort of time. So check with me when you get back.

Not entirely what you are after tho. Mine is completely original and standard May 01 with 91k on clock and top condition. Full history heated immaculate leather, bose etc. Interior and exterior excellent, few stone chips to front. No faults logged at AMD just before xmas after full service. Stonking service history £000's spent. It is Avus Silver, you could buy this and then spec it up yourself. I have a chance of a Focus RS in spring / summer so will probably sell then. Will be hoping to get £5.5k

Might sell mine in the next 3 months (spec as signature)... 78K on the clock currently, FASH up to 60k then FspecialistSH after. Black interior.
Optional extras -
Does have: Centre armrest, 'gmbh' upgrade pack (18" RSTTs and 10mm lower suspension from factory), Bose...
Doesn't have: Sat Nav, Heated seats, CD changer, parking sensors, sunroof.

Might look for a B5 RS4 you see, although there's also a Boxster S i've been eyeing up.

forget mine then mate, you'll get a black easier and cheaper IMO - no disrespect to the black S3 owners but silver/black will always be more readily available and cheaper as a consequence ('should')....and i'd personally fit an RNS-E retro to any car you get, the RNS-E is still dated nevermind what was available when ours were all born..which you'll end up paying more for

i think i read somewhere to budget £600 for an RNS-E, your likely to get a much better nav system by all accounts

No doubt the SATNAV was pretty poo at the time of install but it was functional on my 01,

Any idea if a tow bar can be fitted to them either ? the car.... not the satnav

no probs mate..... i do prefer the look of the older sat nav with the centred screens, thinks the issues lay in the functionality when compared with ya Tomtoms and updates etc....

no idea on the tow bar am afraid it might be hard due to the back box and would 'i imagine' require a bit of support adding in.

it would only be a single, Double bike trailer at most towing <300kgs

Bosal do a discreet towbar that replaces the rear crash bar, if I recall. I looked into getting one to carry my bike around, and the part was ~£250.

Ok so after looking about and considering my history with S3's ive decided to buy another for about £5k and spend up to £4k on it, Idealy im after a bog standard one to give me that warm fuzzy feeling that when it is in its ninja state i know everything about it and its abilities... if that makes sense !

sooooooo next bone open question.....

£4k..... what to buy... I know alot can be spent on forged internals and the likes off with no imediate gain apart from strength and longevity, I have agreed with the long haird Sergeant major that i will keep this one for a while so a good mix of forged and forced induction power gains will be done...
