You really cant afford an extra Ł2.50 a tank?

I realise everyones financial circumstances are different, but its Ł2.50...

Unless you're tanking it up more than 4 or 5 times a month its such a small amount of money you cant honestly suggest you cant afford the extra cash to run it on the right stuff?
to be fair i agree if ur taking up much more than this the running costs of oil changes and tyres and servicing will be that high that the Ł2.50 a tank extra wont make a blind bit of difference....

What's everyone opinion on the Super Unleaded stuff at super markets ie Sainsburys etc if there isn't a Shell garage near by and you desperately need a refill....?

tbf i think most supermarkets fuel is pants, but it cant be too far away from the good stuff, weights and measures and all, personally i dont like using them, my fiancee gives them far too much money a week as it is, but tescos 5p a litre is well worth the momentum pit stop

I've been using sainsburys super unleaded for years, I sometimes fill up with v power but cant say i noticed any difference. My cars also standard thou so probably less likely to really see much difference between v power and other higher octane fuels.

My car was running scarily lean and pulling 12's, completely unknown to me, if I wasn't running V-power it may very well have gone kaboom!

V-power ftw! I got Ł5.50 off my last fill up with v-power, thank you v-power card!

On a well remapped BAM spec1 running a good ignition map with pull of around 4-5CF on V-power the difference between happy shopper fuel and V-power will be night and day. And mapping for V-power I can bring another map into play AIT v RPM ignition correction at low intake temp I can produce another 5-10bhp just from timing advance at the v AIT. Its harder to do this mapping with happy shopper fuel.

is this thread aimed mainly at s3's or would my 1.8tq better from this i currently have the engine management light on the code comes back as too lean i have found 1 split pipe which i will change to correct this but looking through this thread would v power rearly make that much difference i always look at it at the pumps and think hmm is it worth it but looking at this yeh i think it is for and extra Ł2.50 you carnt go wrong.
cheers nilz im defo getting the vpower card if you can rack cash back points up that way i spend about Ł200-Ł250 a month on fuel at the mo

Your VCDS error will probably be something to do with a boost leak somewhere as opposed to the fuel you put in the car but you will benefit from V power over 95 or 97 unleaded.

Does Tesco momentum fall into the happy shopper category, or do you mean 95 RON? I've been using Tesco when it's convenient for ages thinking it's the good stuff... Should I be sticking to the 'oil giants'?

Tesco momentum is much better than 95/97 Ron fuels but I have been told by a certain tuner that he sees much better performance out of cars running shell 99 over tesco 99.

This is a pain in the arse for me as I have to do a 20 mile round trip just to get to my nearest shell garage.

Yeah, it is a pain in the arse, my nearest Shell is about that far too!

Does anyone know (based on real facts and figures - not assumptions from filling their tank and 'feeling more power') whether BP Ultimate 97 is any good? is Tesco 99 better (or equivalent) to BP 97?

BP or Tesco is about the most convenient for me and a lot of the other garages round here don't even sell premium at all.

    Cheers.

I have used both and did do some vcds logging a while back that showed how my ecu would retard ignition timing more on the 97 to the 99. I will probably stick with tesco 99 as it's more convenient for me too.

Now I'm running revo software and my fueling is better than before, tesco will be just fine.

Thanks Westle, that's what I wanted to hear!

I've heard enough urban myths about the poor quality of supermarket fuel but always suspected that it wouldn't be in Tesco's interest to flog cheap crap labelled as premium.

It has to be 99 Ron to be sold as 99 Ron or that would be false advertising but I have been told that there is still a difference in quality between Tesco and Shell fuel.

If a shell garage and a tesco garage were the same distance away i'd opt for shell every time but tesco is my closest for 99 ron so that's what I tend to use.

ive not changed it yet m8 but its the only pipe that is split its directly under the inlet manifold if you look through the gaps on the inlet you can see a small pipe about 6" long it not one of the common pipes that awesome sell that need replacing under the inlet.

Yeah, mine was attached to the Y pipe that comes off the rocker cover breather pipe, this was split and so was the pipe attached to it. this pipe goes under the mani and attaches to the the right side of a T junction. It was a real pain to get to it, big hands in small gaps dont work, took me ages. Got the pipe from Audi and its now a solid Pipe not rubber.

You guys are talking about the breather hose thats right in the middle of the inlt mani?

There are also 2 3mm hoses that come off of 2 small nipples on the left underneath the inlet mani. The front one goes to the DV top and the back one goes to the FPR.
