    S3 misfire when cold

    hi there

    I recently purchased an 02 S3 with 80k

    when I viewed it at a garage and then collected it, they had ran it up to temperature which I now believe to be due to a mis fire when cold

    it goes once at temperature, I am suspecting coil packs??

    I had a full service done on her yesterday and the following fault codes came to light 16684, 16688, 16686, 16687

    Also, when really thrashing it, it crunches going in to third gear, any ideas??

    thanks for your attention to this and advice

    Full service including plugs?

    I would;

    - change the coilpacks & check coil pack wiring

    Crunching of the gearbox into 3rd is very common, most noticeable changing at high revs. An uprated dogbone mount(20 from powerflex) will reduce engine movement and make gearchanges more positive. Trade off is more vibrations into through the steering column from the engine.
