audi a3 dash cluster

I have a friend with a 2001 a3 1.6 where the rev counter and speedometer doesnt work. We have found a second hand cluster. Im assuming if the clusters are swapped the car wont start because of the imobiliser not matching with the original keys?
Would the original keys have to be reprogrammed to match the immobiliser or does the immobiliser have to be reprogrammed to match the keys?

Is there anyone in the Liverpool/north west area who can do this? dont fancy being ripped off at a dealers!

if you haven't got the SKC code put the old clocks back in and try and buy one with the code supplied
