Nick you're on about making it look more agressive, and complaining about front end grip, hurry up and get a real splitter on there! It should help pile more air into those brake ducts too. Time to get down to the Jewsons for some marine ply I think We could even throw some carbon over if for you wanted to look all posh!
You may well find some benefit from changing calipers, but I'd agree that 2 piece discs would be a good plan. Something like this kit would be the ideal in terms of cost/performance/weight in my eyes: 315mm R132-4 & RR132-4
Running Boards, absolutely BRILL YANT.! I can see it now. Front splitter feathering into aerodynamic running boards angled to create down force. On tight twisty circuits maybe rollered outriggers fixed to the running boards to prevent cars rolling over. Getting in and out of car solved, brake cooling solved, no ugly wing on rear of car, in fact, all problems solved in one easy design. The future, mmmmmmmm.

Did you look at the kit I linked to Nick? A HiSpec 2 piece disc set-up would come in at ~£360 plus getting the PCD machined into the Bells, should come in at a pretty sensible price. I'd guess they'd sell you A3 specific ones out of a kit though, and I can't imagine them being silly money, they're known to work well when pushed hard too.

I've been properly rubbish at updating this this week.
On Sunday there was a small CGTI Dyno Day at Badger 5, and the intention was that I would go along to help out with admin and general organising of people so Bill / Tuffty could get on with the task in hand.
I set off at 8am, to arrive early. Weather wasn't the nicest, but nothing terrible:
20 minutes later heading up to Newbury it got even more miserable:
Then, as if from nowhere, bloody snow appeared!
And in the space of 5 minutes, everything was white, and the M4 was hardly moving at all:
Not impressed! A lightweight car with big fat 235 tyres is not the ideal tool for the job, so I pulled off, and was amazed to find Membury services totally covered in snow
Front end well and truly snowed in, who needs meth!
Had a coffee, chilled out for a bit, and headed on, and it was better.
Got to B5 very late, did what I could to help out, then cracked on with fitting my new battery cable (Thanks PT!)
Got the new cable run, and Tuffty crimped a few ends for me, pics of that to come this weekend
Had a good day at B5 as always, and was nice to catch up with Bill and Paul and drink lots of tea

This car seems to be performance on track
I find the base for track original, because here in France, it's uncommon to see Audi A3 on track.
There is mainly Peugeot 205, 106 or Renault megane, clio
It is an unusual base for a track car yes, and the Peugeots and Renaults you mention are also much more common here on track also! But we wanted to see what could be done, and this is where we ended up!
Been a bit slack lately with regards to updates. so here's a brief catch up:
One filthy boot floor awaiting a battery:
Centre bracket drilled out, sound deadening removed, cleaned up and painted quickly to keep it all the same colour, then I used some stick on foam to line the raised section where the battery will sit:

For now I've reinstalled the battery tray, it holds my catch can mount, and being plastic it's easily worked and used to bolt things to.
Junction box bolted into place:
Added a stud to hold the fuse box, and ran a length from the junction box to the starter.
Drilled the redundant top corner of the fuse box to locate on the stud:
And cover on and finished:
Going to the FIA cut off switch, it needs wiring in such that power spikes don't damage anything when you shut it off, and also it needs to cut the ignition power to ensure the engine doesn't run on on the alternator.
Something along these lines:
So I looped off the terminal back onto the spade terminal for the starter return:
The cut off came with a resistor, but I had to solder on some little wire tails to connect it up, then heat shrink'd them to keep things from contacting:
I also had to open up the fuse box and cut into the main ECU power feed to ensure the car cuts out, I tapped into fuse 29 for this. No decent pics as I HATE wiring and was concentrating.
And everything connected up at the switch:
Turned the key, and it all still works, turned the switch off whilst it was running, and it cuts the power instantly, and can be fired back up and everything still works, so I can only assume I've got it right!
Also, whilst I had it apart this morning, I ran a signal wire for my shift light, which taps into the coilpack signal wires.
I originally looked at taping into the loom at the coilpacks, but didn't like the idea due to heat, so I traced the wire back to the ignition amp and spliced into it there:
Just got to refit the dash panels tomorrow, then take it out for a spin and set up the shift light

However, I made it home, and I'm still alive, and I wasn't beaten up, mugged, or raped, so for day 1 I'm going to call that a result.
