Suspension height/drop differences

Perhaps people can confirm/disagree with this summary

Standard fit factory "Sports" suspension as fitted to 1.8T and 1.8TQs was a 20mm drop all round compared to ordinary SE/Standard A3s.

S3 standard factory fit suspension, is 10mm lower front, 15mm lower rear than "Sports" A3 suspension (Not certain of this but S3 buyers guide says "compared to standard A3"...and by standard i presume "Sports")

S3 optional Quattro Gmbh suspension is a further 10mm (maybe 20mm...posts disagree on this) lower than ordinary S3

So.....if i fit the H + R spring set (25mm) on my facelift 1.8TQ...i presume i will drop 25mm PLUS 10 (front) , 15 (rear)?...is my logic correct here...Drill...ess...andytq perhaps can comment please!

Re: Suspension height/drop differences

Usually when a suspension drop is quoted and they give a specific fitment, then the measurment is from the factory figure for that car.

So for a 1.8TQ if the drop is a quoted 25mm, then is should be 25mm from what the car is now (they take into consideration the lower height).

Does that make sense??

As for the Gmbh suspension, I have a look on ETKA and couldn't find anything listed in the accessories catalogue for either the A3 or S3. It does however list a "votex" kit for MK4 golfs.
I asked my local dealer about Gmbh, and they just looked at me blankly. Anyways, I'm waffling now, so I'll stop. :-)

The Audi S3 parts accessories catalogue had lowered springs listed...think they were -30mm

HTC

Trouble is many sites quote the same H & R part for 1.8TQ AND S3

e.g.

http://www.deutscheperformance.co.uk...mhtml?id=29438

So i'm still confused if i get 25mm or 35-40mm!

Okay, I see what you mean. I've just checked a few more sites and its the same.

I would attempt to contact the manufacturer direct and get their opinion.

Bit annoying that.

S3 Audi GmbH lowered suspension was from the accessories catalogue and was available with 18"RSTT's only - i think (may have been a reccomendation with the wheels) and lowered a further -20mm from the standard S3 suspension IIRC.

Re: Suspension height/drop differences

Ive been quoted 90 (3 hours labour) for fitting my new shocks and springs all round by my usual Audi specialist which sounds fair. Not sure if that included the tracking though.
