Just need to know the best way to fit a water pump on an s3 ?? Book time says 2 and a half hours according to my mate .. :-/

Sorry, no idea mate, looked at the cambelt setup on the S3 and decided to leave it to the experts.

Where abouts in the Wirral are you? You weren't pulled over on the M53 on Saturday night where you lol

Pensby area .. Nope wasn't me mines been at the garage since last thurs :-( .. Just need to get it done to sell you see .. Plus can't get it anywhere now so mayswell give it a shot :-D

Sorry..... it's part of the cambelt setup so if your doing the pump it's best to do all the belt related stuff too unless it's already been done recently... but if it was you would expect the pump to have been done at the same time

Yep pulleys belt and water pump have been done 5k ago but impellers have broken on pump due to cold weather

Due to cold weather and not enough g12 in the engine I guess??
The only benefit of having the plastic bladed pump is that it will break if the coolant freezes. I would have thought a metal pump in that situation may cause the belt to snap or possibly jump a few teeth which could more expensive problems! If u haven't changed one before then I would allow a good 4-5 hours to replace, as it's a fiddly job with not much room. A specialist should be able to do it in a couple of hours. Pumps are about £35 from gsf or eurocarparts. Coolant is another £20.
