Staggered width wheels/tyres and the Quattro system, issues?

Hi all

Keep getting mixed opinions on running staggered width wheels giving the quattro system grief, more specifically the different width tyres required.

General opinion is as long as the rolling radius' are kept within a 5% tolerance of each other I should be fine.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Want to run 9's and 10's and was thinking 225/35 and 235/35 which is a RR difference of around 1.1%

can you get a 10" rim on the rear of an A3/S3 ?

yes you can get a 10 sitting fine on an s3

typically, youd aim to keep the rolling radius the same, so for example if you ran a 225/40r18 on the front, then you could fit a 255/35r18 to the rear.

I run 8's on the front and 9 rear with a 25mm spacer on the rear and have had it like that for a few years with no problems

The Haldex allows for a 2.5% difference in rolling radius before it thinks there's something wrong, probably to cater for uneven tyre wear, so best to keep the rolling radius within 1.5% and allow the other 1% for tyre wear is what I think is acceptable.
