Vac hose clamps

Hi all sorry for the daft question how has everyone secured their 4mm vac hoses to the fpr and dv i cant find jubilee clips small enough anywhere even the hose specialist hasn't got anything other than spring clamps which arn't very strong and the hoses still leak. I have tried cable ties for now which are better but they are still quite loose and im thinking with the heat they will get worse. If anyone knows where i can get small clamps could they let me know. Thanks

i replaced my vac hoses for smaller bore silicone tubing so its tight to start with then put a cable tie round them and have never a a problem

Cheers mate i'll have to get some 3mm tubing i did ask for some at the time but the hose place didnt have any 4mm was the smallest anyhow i'll find some.

I use petrol pipe and as it tends to be thicker walled i then use the small petrol clamps to secure the hoses at the ends

Thats interesting i didnt think of that as the walls are thicker the clamps will be able to hold better thanks.

yeh petrol clamps are great for uber small hoses. i used cable ties however as they are already tight with nothing and a petrol clamp just seemed OTT

I don't use any.... lol. The vac hose is a nice snug fit, and they've never come off.

Would you two be using 3mm id hoses by any chance? As the 4mm i use is quite loose hence the need to tighten them with something.

There is a mixture of 3mm and 4mm on the Audi, therein lays the problem.

I use the clamps as i am a bit anal on boost leaks etc, can't be too careful since a boost leak can overspeed the turbo and make it lunch itself.

You may need less re inforced hose if you are looking at using 3mm as the fuel pipe might not have the correct amount of stretch required

mine are 4mm i believe mate but arent very loose

It must be bad quality what im using at the moment as thinking back it wasnt as loose when i put it on so i think its stretched and the bloke even said to me its good stuff that wont happen lol. It needs sorting asap though as its throwing the 00561 mixture adaptation code again and is the only thing that is leaking. Unless someone could verify that a leak that small wouldnt throw this code. I wouldnt trust the hose thats on without clamps so you get the idea how loose it is.

This isnt as big a problem as i thought they are leaking but with the car throwing the rich fuel code i thought id try unplugging the maf as i did have this problem on the last one and it runs better. This mafs not been on long but iv kept the receipt so at least i can return it under warranty

try a cable tie n rescan mate. see what happens then

I will try it later but tbh im certain its the maf as the problem came on pretty quick when this cold weather started dont know if mafs tend to go with cold weather but i think the pipes were leaking long before the problem as there is a slight oil residue around the ends. But i suppose it helps that i will be getting another maf for free id think differently if i had to pay another £120 lol.
