I doubt this is a common problem but some of you may have had it and might be able to suggest what part I need before I go and confuse the feck out of the Audi parts man!

I noticed a nocking noise from the rear of the car back in May which turned out to be a missing bolt from the back box. I used a trusty old cable tie to fix it all in place till my service where I asked my mech if he could put a new bolt in. It turns out that the whole bracked had fallen apart and needed replacing.

Imagine you are under the car with legs heading towards the back. The back box fits to a heat shield that sits between the back box and the boot floor. This heat shield has 4 bolts fixing it to the boot floor, one in each corner. The bolts screw into fixings one of which i'm missing in the top right corner.

It is difficult enough to get my hand round the back to even feel about let alone take a photo so I apologise for my vague discription. I think when I come to fixing this I will need to drop the whole exhaust to get at it.

So if anyone has had this issue before or has any ideas what i need to ask the Audi parts dept. please let me know.

Cheers,

Westy

cant u just drop the backbox n weld a new bracket onto the chassis?

simple enough mate you can get generic parts from all over the shop. u could pop to an exhaust specialist or a garage that does welding n just get them to weld something on for u. will only be 10 mins work

no probs mate i had a similar thing before on my old pug 306 n they just got a metal rod and welded and bent around the exhaust etc for me and made a nice new hanger was perfect didnt move at all after that n was firmly up tight. good luck dude
