    where to get my turbo reconditioned?

    as above?

    any suggestions? was thinking midland turbo.. they seem quite competitive? for a K04
    S3 Stage 1 Map, Forge 007p, Jetex filter, JE Forged pistons and scat rods, ARP bottom end bolts + stud and nut kit fited with race ported head, 3" Downpipe + Full Ashley system, lowered on ebaich pro springs, white RS6's, HID headlights n fogs, dewipered..not bad for a few weeks modding .. Hertz Mille 3000 + Audison SR1DK, + coilovers coming soon!

    cool stuff..have you used them?/ what kinda prices/turnaround.. basically my new forged engine is going to be fitted this week sometime and i need my turbo back to its former glory!

    I've not used them yet, but I will be. They were prompt in replying to my email and very helpful, I believe the price for hybrid-ing my K04 (if I supplied them with my K04) was about 550 and the turn around was 4-5 days. I believe Welly and Speedy Steve used them for their hybrids.

    ahh man id love to go hybrid but i cant afford to right now but i need to have this turbo rebuilt.. il give them a ring in the morning as well compare some prices.. the only thing is both of them are in like dorset! i live in birmingham =/

    hybrids as i understand it are standard turbos that are modified to increase boost/performance by way of porting and using bigger compressors/turbines in the standard housing .. overhauls are as they say on the tin.. stripping the turbo of its components and replacing with new bearings/seals/compressors/turbines etc etc i presume! dont take my word as gospel though im just guessing here

    Thats why CR Turbos send a courier to pick up your turbo and then they deliver it back to you when done.... its that simple... you just need to box it securly and they do the rest... I had my GT30 rebuilt by CR.... excellent service IMO which is also why Badger Bill uses them...

    CR done mine too, great job and a pleasure to deal with, definitely the way to go IMO.
    Mk1 16v G60 - Gone but not forgotten.... Mk1 Haldex AWD in progress.... Audi S3 keeping me entertained....

    Just out of interest, what are the ballpark figures to exchange for a reconditioned turbo from CR Turbos? Or have all of you gone for hybrids?

    Think an OEM turbo recon is around the 500 mark... I think.

    Put my hand round the turbo today and got oil over my had so i may be in need of a recon. Need to get the car in the and get a closer look but fearing the worst

    i swear they said 170 to recondition my old turbo at midland turbo..

    getting the thing off on monday and then il ring round and get some quotes

    indeed,the transfer box as well as many other things need to be removed before even touching the turbo.....not nice at all.
