error light, advice

Driving to work this morning. a light starts flashing on the dash. It was on the rev counter and looked like a car with a key underneath it. I turned the engine on and off at the next traffic lights and it didnt come back on???

my manual is at home so i dont even know what that light is for???

Hmm not sure of this one. I think you can press the button on the dash when the symbol comes up and it will tell you what it is. Give it a try or have a look in the manual when you get home.

just went for a drive at lunch and it didnt come on again

Sound like the immobiliser, was it yellow in colour too?

yeah it was yellow and it flashed on and off untill i restarted the car

There's two buttons - one to zero the mileage counter and theres another one next to it. Try that one!

sounds like the immobiliser yup... although i wasnt aware of this being a problem indicator light.
ours lights up until ignition, then goes off after a few seconds, as with one ror two other yellow lights.
