Boot Lights not working

Just realised that the boot lights in my 2003 a3 are not working

anyone know which fuse belongs to them or if there are any other faults associated with them ?

The bulbs are ok as I tested them in the number plate lights.

Where is the switch that tells the lights that the boot is open?

It's the boot mechanism which is messed up. Another common fault once again! I've got the same problem too and have done ever since i bought the car. Somebody on here will elaborate on how to repair it instead of buying a new mechanism as i've forgotten how it's done!

Cant can you! Weve gone over this loads and the only real cure is for a new mechanism isnt it? Mine **** me off something cronick, so annoying.
