Engine swap or not? your thoughts please!!

I have been wondering what to do for a while now with the car, do I keep it and go down the big turbo route with rods, pistons etc, or do I just sell it and get something newer? that got me then thinking of swapping the engine. I was considering swapping the 1.8T for the 2.0TFSI from the new S3 and mating it up to the OE Haldex. This would give me the option of 375BHP with an OE turbo that spools from 2000 rpm and the additional torque of the 2.0 litre motor. Has anyone done this swap, if so what are there opinions, Before everybody jumps in with the problems with the can bus and immobilizer issues, i have already done a few 2.0 TFSI conversions and know how to get everything working, I am just after opinions and to see if anyone has one in an 8L.

I think if you were to do the conversion it would have to be with something more special than a tfsi... as you would really want the time and effort to pay off. Didnt somebody rs4 one, Although i doubt there was much S3 left.

i had that thought about the 2.5ttrs engine in an s3 the other day, that would be the ultimate in my opinion! easy EASY RELIABLE 400hp. plus the sound track! a true rs3! as thats whats going in the rs3 in 8p form.

thats some serious weaponry! amazing work to get that in there, maybe too front heavy, but if its a lighter lump than the r32 piece, winner!

Passat R36 engine with a supercharger or turbo conversion. That would give you a forced induction 3.6 TFSI VR6, although the engines are a bit differant I'm sure some R32 hardwear could be used to get it mounted etc & I don't think the R36 n/a ECU would run forced induction so would need stand alone managment & the compression ratio might be a bit to high but it would make for some nice power all be it a bit expensive though.

You guys are complicating matter too much ! Never build a car wich you can buy and i would go for the vr6 turbo (plenty kits in USA) wich will give you pretty easy 400 bhp while its easy to work on !

major thread revival but does the 2.0 tfsi fit in a a4 quattro. was going to build a 1.8t on a stand over the winter but if a 2.0 tfsi fits straight in same as a 1.8t, how dificault would the loom be? seen this for sale i know its old but states tfsi enigne with 1.8t loom and ecu.

then on to the ttrs enigne, how does this fit up to the tqs box and mounts? can the loom intergrate on to the a4 loom?

    cheers
