Anyone tried 'budget' coilovers on their S3?

Ive had Koni's on my TT, KW V2's on a Mk4 Golf and FK Silverlines on a Polo 9N, so am not unfamiliar with decent coilovers, however Ive never tried 'budgets' before.

I know everyone always says buy cheap, buy twice, but would something like the below be that much worse than what Ive had in the past? I'm interested mainly in going low. I dont push the car hard often (I live on the Motorway most of the time) but I dont want a rediculously poor ride quality like the lowering springs on standard dampers option often creates.

Any feedback on these or other budgets on the S3 platform in particular?

Fk automotive are a very well known brand in the euro tuning scene & have plenty other high end kits available so the quality should be good & with plenty of experiance behind them, this apears to be there new entry level coilovers so I'd say it looks like a very good buy. You seem to have a fair bit of experiance with differant coilover kits so I would be interested in your thoughts on them if you do go for it.

I've had FK's before, only thing I would say is that you need to keep the threads greased up or they will seize up (this may be true for all coilovers though ! ).

For Ł220 though they look like a steal :0

Tim, your on the TT forum ini. There's a thread on there where someone has put some on a TT and gave it good feedback if I can remember.

Majority of basic collies all do the same job and have to meet quality standard etc, its when your getting adjustable damper, bump and rebound etc is when the bigger name brands provide the better collies as they do a lot more research and testing.

These are the collies im going to be getting when I decide to get them.

tim i have AP's on mine come out the same factory as KW, pop over some time and i can take you for a spin so you can see how they fair, imo there really comfey very good quality,

my old corsa had fk's on and after time one of the front shock seals gave in and leaked, but the kid i sold it to had wound it down something silly so probably the reason

Personally on an S3 I'd say stick to something a bit better quality. As mentioned the AP are a very good option and great value for money.
