Aerial Reception!!

Is it just my car or is the Aerial reception really crap??..

Hi,
The reception on my A3 was terrible, inspection revealed that it had corroded quite badly inside the whip itself, I replaced the whole aerial and can now get stations I never could.
Stoke Audi supplied the replacement.

What bit did you replace mate,just the aerial bit that you can unscrew??.

No, the whole lot - Mount and whip.
I tried to unscrew the whip and it wouldn't come off, trying to rotate it resulted in corrosion falling out of it.

Does your unscrew or show any signs of corrosion?

Yeah mate it does come off,it does have a little corrosion.ill have a clean up and see if any better.ive also tryed a different whip but still the same.

Oh also did you fit the new mount yourself?

Yes, fitted the mount myself, the hardest part was getting the aerial lead joiner apart, I dropped the headlining at the back after removing the side trims which made it loads easier. You can just access it through the rear interior light hole.
