now in my s3 i dont think about mpg just put 99 in it when i need to but my mk 5 gt tdi 140 has just done 38mpg over a tank full. Dont think that is that good as most of that is the mrs driving miss daisy style! Anyone got the same motor?

mk4's are known to be better.
sundance, tha seems more like it! I can get the mpg on the dash to read 50 as an average on the motorway at 80 85 in 6th but i just did 371 miles to 44.5 litres of diesel so no where near yours! Wonder whats wrong

The wife has a mk5 GT TDI 140 and it averages 43 day to day and 48 on a long run, my mate has the 170 GT TDI and that gets 38 with two bikes on the roof
