    HELP"!!! Over Boost / No Boost??

    Driving to Tesco at lunch time and went to pull away from traffic lights and car bogged down. It was perfectly ok yesrterday so I'm a bit confused as to what's happening. I have no engine management light on but it seems like as soon as the turbo starts to spoll it loses all power!!

    HELP!!!!

    Other than checking for split pipes/hoses etc then VAGCOM is the first port of call mate....

    Its not ESP kicking in? do you loose power for just that instance or does it come back once you have let off the loud pedal?

    It's not the ESP Paul, it's like it just shuts down when the accelerator is pushed to the floor.

    Need to get the fault codes checked mate, sounds like limp mode.... difficult to say what could be causing it, splits in pipes etc usual culprits... does the engine idle OK? does the car drive ok off boost? misfires? any other symptoms?

    Car is fine off boost and drives normally, no misfires, no rough idle, etc etc. I only noticed it as I went to pull away a little sharpish. Maybe one of the boost pipes have split??

    feasible... in increase in induction noise? TIPs have been know to split and not cause a prob until on boost and drawing lots of air although they may appear more randomly...

    Could be a hose collasping/sucking in, used to be a common fault on Escort turbos back in the day

    That's why I thought it may have been a boost problem Mike. I was forever blowing boost pipes off of my Series One - the only difference being that it wouldn't run at all!
