I need a replacement spring on my A3 quattro sport 2002. I've contacted one garage that specialises in vag repairs. They quoted me between £100 - £115, which includes parts, vat and labour. Is this a good price? Also, he recommended replacing in pairs. Is this really necessary?

either or, your ideally best replacing both....we've just had one changed but you have to make sure you get the colour off the other to match them up, ours was something like 'black black pink'

although i dont know what Audi charged, you can get from Euro car parts too, theres 3 different brands to choose from

Front or rear? If it's rear, might be worth replacing it yourself. I had a front spring replaced recently for one hours labour @ £50 and found a second had rear spring off a kind chap on here.

Post up a thread asking for one or look on eBay. That's the cheapest route :)

Ok I'm going to go out tomorrow and get a spring from a scrappies. I have a query though, is there any difference between a spring from a quattro model and a FWD model? Mines a quattro so I want to get the right one.

not sure, but i would have thought so due to the weight difference of the cars

btw, if your buying new springs - don't forget...do the job...in pairs.
Check shocks are OK whilst your at it and do them too at the same time....and again in pairs even if only one needs replacing
