Evening all, I recently bought some used 17" TT mk1 6 spoke alloys to put on my 1.9 TDi Sport, they currently have 225/45/17's on and they don't have too much longer left on them, I haven't put them on the car yet and I'm considering changing the tyres for something a little narrower and lower profile as I have a suspicion 225/45's might be a little too fat for the A3

I'm thinking 205/45/17's or 215/45/17's might be the way to go?
What are peoples opinions on this?

At the moment it's standard TDi Sport ride height but I would like to subtly lower it in the future (If anyone can recommend me a decent kit with a subtle drop that won't rattle my aging bones!)

Thanks in advance for any help

Jules

I would say 205/45/17 (45)you would still get the comfort, but less friction with (205) so should help with power as well as MPG.

205/50R17 is a close match in circumference for the correct size 225/45R17.

A3 Sizes -

195/65R15
205/55R16
225/45R17
225/40R18
235/35R19
