turbo lagging

hi, just wondering if anybody out there is having same problem as me with my a3 1.9 tdi 2002, i`ve got turbo lag thats giving me grief when trying to overtake, have to pull back as i lose power when accelerating, (bit embarrasing when passing micras and fords) been quoted nearly £2000 if turbo needs replacing, can`t afford that

check your boost pipes for splits/leaks mate, thats what id put my money on! and dont just have a quick look, literally get in there and grope each pipe front and back! lol

Use Vag-Com (VCDS) to read the error codes. As above, probably a leaking boost hose.
