Advice 1.9 conversion

The garage rang me a told me the damage and it was the block needed to come out and be rebored. :(

I am looking at going dwn the 1.9 route (83mm pistons)

Correct me if i am wrong but i wouldnt be able to use the standard head gasket? What head gasket would i need?

Also are there another bits i would need for the conversion?

You 'can' use the std head gasket but the alternative is to use one from a non turbo 1.8 20v (Bill at Badger 5 runs a 1.9 20v is his Ibiza race car)... can't remember the part numbers off hand but some more info is available here:

I personally wouldn't go above 82.5mm on a road car....

I don't know what effect the increase will have on the fuelling requirements of the map but the ECU should be able to adjust to suit....

82.5mm pistons are the max for std head gasket
do you "need" to go 83mm?

I was just thinking that while i am there. I might aswell go for the 83mm but if i can go for 82.5mm and stay with standard gasket i'll do that :icon_thumright:
