Hi guys,

My S3 is due its first service sinse ive owned it, question is do i service it myself or as it has fiull audi service history so far do i get them to do it? the haldex needs an oil and filter change to but having never owned a haldex 4wd car before i ahvent a clue?

I'm thinking when my service comes up I'm going to do most of it myself and just get Audi to do the bear minimum to get a stamp as people seem to like the stamp

Well im no closer to answering this one, thought i would give a few dealers a ring today to get some prices, im more incined to do it myself just down to the sheer attitude of the dealers.

Bath Audi £165 Haldex oil and filter service, £99 "lubrication" Service (amazing how they can make a simple oil change sound like its something amazing)

Bristol Audi £137 Haldex oil and filter service, £99 Lubrication.

Reason i phoned them is becuase Stafford Adui are offering a haldex service for £95 oil and filter, both said "i cant do that price Stafford Audi should be using Audis menu pricing, Bath audi were about has helpfull as a chocolate teapot after quering the price he phoned Stafford Audi to confirm and offered me a discount down £140 which is still more than bristol Audi in which he replyed i would go with Bristol Audi if i were you i mean WTF? 3 dealers 3 different prices none will match the cheapest.

Every man and his dog is claiming they are a Vag specialist nowadays if im not getting it serviced by a main dealer to keep the service history i may swell do it myself i think.

How many miles has the car done? If its hit 100k I would just do it myself, thats the point where I gave up paying for stamps anyway.

Yea its on 104k at the moment, think i will do it myself then is there a how to for the haldex service? does it use normal oil?

Haldex uses special oil and there is a special tool for it. I normally pay for that to get done as its only about £80 from an independent and saves the hassle.
