Right few questions/queries, but first bit of background.
Car has been off the road for a good while due to ABS system going Pete Tong, due to the current economic conditions just havent had the money (also lucky to still have a job), and Audi wanted ~Ł1900 to put it through an MOT and ~Ł4400 to do MOT and all the advisories which is basically worn bushes etc (think they just did a money building exercise).
Obviously told them to do one as thats just stupid money and only gone back to get a couple of parts!
Have now fixed the ABS system after replacing controller, brake light switch and steering angle sensor, changed fluid and hoses and bleed the brake system.
The car starts first time everytime but really struggles to stay idling without dying in the first 10-15secs if I dont give it a bit of throttle, but when its up to temp it sits idling quite happily at 720/760rpm according to VAGCOM.
QUESTION 1 = Is this the infamous temp sensor being knackered and needing to be replaced, if so has anyone got pics or how to of where this is as cant seem to find it in elsa or etka?
When it is running it also smells rich.
QUESTION 2 = Could this be due to the crappy fuel thats in the tank (approx 18months old) and or the adaption values (fuel trim) being reset where the battery has been off?
Is it worth doing oil and filter change and spark plugs before putting it in for an MOT or wait until after?
Any other help or pointers would be appreciated, just want it back on the road as the missus honda jazz just isnt in the same league!
(Sorry for the long post and to all who made it this far )
