yes its an other one of them slate me threads :)

Im working in Holland at the moment and have been in Germany for the weekend,
anyway on the way back as i was coming on to the the autobahn there was an escort rs cosworth in front.
he nailed it so i dropped it into 3rd and stuck right behind him till about 130 (yes i was wearing my seatbelt), when he moved over and slowly got an edge on him till 145 which i slowed down due to soiling my pants, never had a smile on my face so big :)

car is a 1999 apy s3 with AMD stage 2 map, milltek exhaust with race cats, air filter, 007p dv, forge TIP, forge boost hoses etc, running 270hp.

im driving over to uk next weekend for usc at santapod does anyone know what sort of times i should be expecting?

What year was the Cosworth? the early ones where best as they ran the T34 Turbo but the later ones had a T28 and could only get 300bhp before the turbo had to be changed

My experiance of Escort Cosworths says he should of left you
Your times to aim for are sub 14 seconds,0-60 sub 6 seconds...never broke 14 seconds in a few times of trying so good luck

must have been a smaller turbo standard one lol. Iv experianced the T34 power and the ease of tuning and they are incredible

not to sure what year the cossie was as it had dutch plates, it looked pretty standard, well it didnt have an after market exhaust anyway.

looks like i might have to treat the s3 to some of that BP 102 ron fuel and try break the 14 sec :)

i know it costs 2.49 a liter but has anyone tried using it?

Im a bit of a Escort Cosworth fanboy, and standard it should be much the same as a Stage1/Stage 2 S3.

Ive been in a few, low 14s for the quarter mile and 5.6 to 60 as standard. If its slightly fettled or one of the large turbo editions then its goodbye.

By the looks of the reg's you got the pics the wrong way round andrew.

Those lights on the blue cossie aren't standard, though they look a lot better IMO...

If money were no object I'd definitely have an immaculate one sitting in my heated garage for special occasions :)

I'm another Ford RS / Cosworth Fan. I'm looking to buy one this winter to use as next years summer toy. I'm after a standard example. It will be intresting putting it against my Standard S3 pre Facelift. But i'm in NO Doubt that the Cosworth will be Noticeably Quicker.

Also the Badges on the boot are different on the Big Turbo Escort's

I think you got your pics the wrong way around!! :)

I think a stage 2 S3 wouldn't have much trouble with a standard Cossie at all. They're not that special these days in standard trim, in fact they're pretty disappointing, but most are modified...Then so are alot of S3's!

^^ also one of the most dated looking cars still on todays roads.
Although the power may be there, the refinements/ looks certainly are not.

(Cosworth defensive mode on!!) From the OPs experience, his stage 2 S3 was not overtaking the Escort up to 130mph? That doesn't like sound like the S3 isn't having much trouble to me?!

And generally speaking, even in standard trim a car that was on the road 18 years ago is still faster than the likes of the todays Focus STs, RenaultSport Meganes etc etc. !Cosworth defensive mode off!!).

It is a bit dated on the inside and it still has a chav/max power image to everyone but enthusiasts.

big turbo cossie, hello lag, they fitted the smaller turbo towards the end of production to reduce turbo lag and make the car more drivable. In standard trim I think a remapped S3 would be pretty even as shown by the OP. Theres no doubting the RS tunes up very well and there are very quick examples out there. Call it chavy looking but imo it works and looks great now that theres not many boy racer escort rst on the road trying to look like a cossie. Love the recaros in them too.

yup i agree, lovely cars...... my neighbour was doing a repair on a red one which had been owned from new..... looked after but you could still walk around it and spot numerous tell tail Ford build quality issues, shame really......

lovely cars, but then i am from essex.

i dont care about the image, its a homologation special, it wasnt made to be prissy or make people feel their neighbours will be jelous... its just a belter

id kill (repeatedly) for one of those

Escort Cosworth IMO = Great, and I mean great engine, same ***** Ford car. A tragedy really.

yup yup....i must say the one that does it for me is the 500 though...maybe its just cos its my era ;)

yeah it is a bit steep....especially for a non standard one....hope that isnt a real 500 :( what a waste if so

I'm sure it will easily

That is in a different league

I'm sure it has'nt got a chance against an RS4 B5
