    Please help :-( Rad leak

Hi all I know this is my first post but i'm desperate to see if i need it fixing now.

Basically I have a 2000 1.9tdi (no air con) and the other day I totally ran out of coolant, turns out the rad is leaking but only slightly. You can see the pink goo coming through the gaps in the rad. The guy in Audi topped it up with water and its only dropped half an inch in a week.
Im meant to be driving around a safari park this weekend and dunno if its safe!
Will rad weld help? And I have been quoted Ł120 (cash) for new rad and fitting, is that cheap?

    Thanks!

not a bad price for a new rad and fitting at all!

radweld will help until then although some ppl will say it will clog up other things

Matt82- sorry dont understand what you mean about a gyppo rad, you think for that price including fitting its not a proper rad?

    LOL, agreed.

However, that sort of stuff does have it's uses now and then....

For example, I fixed my mate's mum's Rover K Series (box of sh*t) engine's head gasket with this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Radiator-Head-...#ht_2408wt_911.

Was getting through a header tank of coolant every day, and leaking oil as well. Thought I'd give that a blast for Ł15, and it has never required water or oil since. That was about 6 months ago now... I advised her to sell it sharpish, but she's still got the damn thing!

    Cough. Bodge. Sell.

Wow rob thats good, the guy offering to do mine works for VW as a mobile mechanic so im not worried about it being a bad rad. I looked on GFS website and for a new rad looks about Ł50-Ł70.

    Whats people's thoughts on this:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Do you think it would offer any benefits over the standard radiator?
