Hello People, Iv got a 1.8 N/A A3 and am looking at the above? whats the diff? i know 5w-40 is fully synthetic and 10w-40 is semi but what difference will that make in the car? Im running 10w-40 Mobil 1 at the mo

Thanks in advance

Mike

you can have them both in fully synthetic, however the 5 40w works better at lower temp and start up giving u a better coverage , i would go for 5 40w ;)

its just i was looking on opieoils.co.uk and it says the 10w-40 is standered and 5w-40 is advanced, now its been driving a bit jerky now and again and iv only ever used 10w-40 in it so i thought as long as it wont damage it id remove the sump, clean all the gunk out and give it a load of 5w-40 so see if that helps.
I saw on here ppl cleaning their oil pick up filter but havnt seen how this is done, mines on 118k miles now so god knows what il find in there... small child?

10w40 in the na
5w40 in the turbo

just imo, but im only ever running my 20vt on 5w40 platinum because we know the heat these things generate
