S3 wing mirror base fitting problem!

When i bought my S3 it had some weird stuff...I know it had been in an accident at the passenger side so maybe they changed the mirrors and they fitted the wrong ones. The car is a 2001 left hand drive.
The mirror bases doesnt fit in its place as the pictures will show. I already tried taking it off and install it again but it doesnt work, the base doesnt go in the right holes for the screws, i wasnt smart enough to check the part number on the mirrors :S and now the car is thousands mile away since i work in Canada.
The pretty much only place i can get another set is ebay.uk
i will be looking for used A3 ones, i think just the facelifted ones will fit.
Now what mirrors i currently have and why doesnt it fit?

Just to help this guy out, does anyone know if there is a difference between LHD and RHD wing mirrors, is there a difference between 3 door and 5 door wing mirror bases?

or anyone have or knows a set of facelifted A3/S3 wing mirrors for sale while not asking half of my house cost?

I think i will be the first to discover if there is any diffrence between the RHD and LHD wing mirrors.
Can anyone tell from the picture if my car have a prefacelift or facelift wing mirrors?
and if anyone found a set of facelifted mirrors i want one plz
