Bike rack options on a A1

Hey all, after a solution to carry 2 mountain bikes on my partners A1. Just wondering what the options are and the best way to go. Did a search but came up empty.

You have 2 options really, one fairly affordable and the other not so much lol. The first is a set of roof bars with 2 cycle holders mounted on top which will set you back around £380 odd or the alternative is a tow bar with a cycle mount attachment which will cost the best part of £1500 fitted at a main dealer. Hope this helps

Can you actually fit a roof mount option to a 3dr?

Looked at tow bar option and that was coming up about £400 for aftermarket.

Anyone used the dreaded cycle carrier?

Yes you can mount it on both the 3dr and sportback. If you are referring to the boot mounted one I've heard problems especially from s-line model owners that the straps catch on the boot spoiler

Could be a daft question but not sure how easy it would be to lift a pair of 29er's on top of the roof. Would you just go for the Audi one or can you recommend a decent 3rd party solution?
