It seems that UAVs are getting a bit of a bad rep at the moment but I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for them. The current problem seems to lay with the US seeming to using them to hunt down people and make automated decisions about whether they should shoot or not.
But come on who wouldn’t want one they’re right up there with your own spy satellite or any other cool toys that the military get to play with. I have been a sucker for them and products like Parrot AR Drone have given us a taste but it’s not quite well military enough. The limitations of using an IPhone or any mobile phone has always seemed a little disappointing. Don’t get me wrong it’s still a cool toy to fly around the office or chase the dog with it (until it eats it).
A french company called Lehmann Aviation has come up with a range of what are small and in the basic forms affordable UAVs. You can go mad and have an all singing and dancing model for nearly €10,000. Using the ever popular GoPro camera this amazing light weight UAV can produce some incredible images of just about anything you wish to fly it over. Oh and did I mention it’s autonomous? well only for the flying part it won’t hunt anyone down for you. After you have programmed it’s flight path you simply launch the UAV which will then fly the desighered route filming as it goes. After the route has been flown it will then return to you.
